Independence Day Parade NJ 2006
UANA participated in the India Independence Day Parade at
Oak Tree Road, Iselin NJ on August 13th 2006. This venue
presented an important opportunity to send a strong signal
to all Indo-Americans in US that Non resiednt
Uttaranchalis stand with them. This year over ten thousand
attended the festivities. This was an excellent platform to
engage our next generation with other Indian Americans of
New Jersey as well as experience the full ambiance of our
culture.
I was very
excited to be part of this event that gave me the opportunity to
represent my land and our community. It was evident that our
presence was greatly welcome with grat words great words of
honor of honor and the warm response from those known and
unknown to the land of paradise – Uttarakhand.

UANA Camping 2006
What started as an experiment in the summer of 2005 has now become an annual ritual.
The event includes some authentic daal-bhaat lunch and some
extensive outdoor cooking. Antakshari late into the night is
a highlight of the event. Hiking, Swimming and Fishing were
done last year apart from volleyball and cricket. Kids had
fun in the form of arts and crafts session and games
followed by smores in the night and some scary Ghost
stories.
It was one of
my best memorable experiences because of its ingredients:
weather, food-so many recipes and variations, Chai on demand,
antakshari, games,,s, hiking, swimming, drenching, BBQ, Yoga and
games for kids.
